Tawhiti Museum Shop

The museum foyer/reception area houses a gift and souvenir shop. Primarily an outlet for the goods produced at the Tawhiti Mill Pottery - it also sells a range of figurines, jewellery, maori crafts, books and prints.

Local clay is used for all the terracotta wares made and sold here. Nigel started potting in the early 1970s and had adapted and modified his techniques and style over the years - still using Tanaghoe clay for his terracotta garden birds, pressed tiles, plaques and figurines, and manufactured white clay is used for domestic ware and glazed tiles.
